But first, I wanted to kick off 2015 with something that is very near and dear to my heart…cake. Besides the fact that I have a ridiculous sweet tooth, I believe that the wedding cake is an easy way to let your personality shine through, without having to negotiate with too many family members. You can be trendy, traditional or anywhere in between.
If you got engaged over the holidays or are just now kicking your wedding planning in high gear, here’s my list of 2015 wedding cake trend predictions. I’m not a fortune teller, but if there’s one thing I know, its’ cake!!
This is, by far, my very favorite tend right now. It started to build momentum at the end of 2014, but I think it’s set to be one of the biggest wedding cake trends in 2015. Like a lady in a sequin party dress, metallic cakes know how to party and how to be posh and sophisticated. Whether they’re toned down or glammed up, this is a trend that definitely has versatility and staying power.

The ruffled cakes are perfect for brides looking for a dainty and elegant look. These romantic looking cakes are usually made of fondant, so they’re much sturdier than their delicate appearance would lead you to believe, but they can bring a touch of elegance to any floral or pastel themed wedding.
My usualy wedding motto is “more is more”, but I’m really digging these “naked” cakes. Instead of the layers and layers of sometimes too sweet icing, these cakes have been stripped down to their bare necessities and I’m kind of in love. Perfect for a rustic or outdoor wedding, these understated cakes are anything but boring.
For a truly elegant affair, consider a lace cake. These beautiful cakes carefully stenciled to almost look like wedding dresses. The other cool thing about this trend is that it’s flexible enough to be combined with some of the others current trends. Mix your lace cake with flowers or a metallic top layer, like the pictures below for a truly unique wedding cake.
Bark is another big trend right now, but I don’t understand or really like it…so I decided not to feature it. Sorry to you bark wedding cake fans out there, but I’m going to need a lot of convincing on this one. Why someone would want a cake that looks like a tree is beyond me, but here’s some Birch inspiration, in case you’re curious.
What other trends do you think will be big this year?
